HI! My name is Sadie. I live in the PNW and I love to study and interact with bugs. Bringing appreciation and awe for nature and the little critters is what Outdoor Girl is all about.

Outdoor Girl is my way of sharing my knowledge and passion for bugs with the rest of the world. I have always been curious and fascinated with learning about the variety of insects that make up our ecosystem. They are so complex, smart and very misunderstood. I want to help end the stigma that bugs are scary and gross.

My love for bugs began so naturally, and I have wanted to be an entomologist since I was three. An Entomologist is a scientist that studies insects. I pick up every bug I see, unless I am concerned it is dangerous. My parents used to find bugs in my pockets all the time when doing the laundry. When I see a bug, I quickly grab whatever container I have and take it home to study and then release it. There isn’t a single bug that I am afraid of. My passion is to bring awareness to these amazing little creatures.

So many people believe that bugs are frightening and yucky, which leads to the instinct to instantly try to kill them. But I believe that bugs are so important in keeping the ecosystem balanced, and they are so interesting and diverse! My desire is to educate everyone about the importance of insects in our environment. My goal is to take the fear out of people and provide a better understanding of these adorable insects. I encourage you to stop and take the time to look at the little guys. Notice the details and colors on them. Look around at the plants/bugs they are feeding on. You just might realize how beautiful these insects are and how they are helping keep our planet alive.

I teach bug classes to all ages and post stories on Instagram to continue to educate people. My hope is to bring a human connection to nature and share the love and passion I have for them.
